FAVA was founded in 1961 by the then Commander Erich Markus in the city of Araguari, Minas Gerais State, under the so-called TRIANGULO MINEIRO, to meet the demand for horse meat, and taking advantage of the fact that the city was within the main cattle traffic route for slaughter, supplying the markets of Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
